I’m at the point where I can see RB notes when I close my eyes so, uh, yeah, I need to take a break and go outside more or something.
The hypothermic half-marathon I’m running is February 10th and that’s way too soon for my liking. My knee is killing me thanks to volleyball on Thursday so I haven’t been keeping up with my training and this week I’m supposed to keep it super-light anyway to rest up for it. Getting to Sarnia is another issue. Initially I had a running partner because I would never ever have come up with this idea on my own. Stuff happens and now it’s just me. I have to go to Toronto on the 7th for a dentist appointment and then magically be in Sarnia at 7am-ish. No idea what I’ll do in between. If I do finish all my assignments this weekend I can choose to chill out at my parents’ place or come back and see my teacher friends as they return. In my head I want to be back in Windsor as soon as possible after the dentist appointment so I can chill out here with my friends to not think about the race. Windsor is also much much closer to Sarnia and doing a long drive the morning of a race does not appeal to me in the slightest. Ok, enough procrastinating. Time to work.

I went for my usual run today. According to the training schedule I’m on I was supposed to do a measly 6k but it turned into quite the outing.
It was a light flurry when I started but 20 minutes out visibility was so poor along the river that I couldn’t see Detroit or the street from the path and I was following that yellow line like it was the last trace of civilized society. The wind was behind me on the way out so, of course, once I turn around to head back to school I get a face full of snow. I’m rather glad I never go running without my cap since it helps keep stray hairs out of my face. Today I was keeping my head down so that I wasn’t blinded by the wind and snow and thus only the lower half of my face was wind burnt. I looked like a snowman by the time I got back to my place. I passed 3 pedestrians on the way back and they all found my running into the wind effort rather hilarious. Glad I could brighten their day ^_^
My day has been pretty good too. Got my 360 replaced on the weekend thanks to a good friend and today I finally got to take it for a spin, loved my run, had just enough time to made a kick ass lunch (egg whites + tofu + mushrooms + little bit of cheese) before heading to the gym for step+weights, and now I’m getting set for dinner before I polish off my C assignment and then game some more before bed. Woo.

When you run 22k you get very very very very tired. Too tired to play Rock Band, too, so you know I’m serious.

I went to bed last night at 10:30pm. I was asleep before 11pm. That never ever happens to me. Usually it takes an hour or three of tossing and turning before I’m actually out for the night. The main reason I drove home yesterday from 2:30-6am was to set my hours straight and it actually worked much better than I hoped. Friday was awesome, as I previously mentioned, and yesterday the Leafs even managed to beat the Panthers just in time so I could watch a sick setup by the Blackhawks’ incredibly hot Sharp beat the Senators in OT. I’m not sure which I enjoyed more :)
Man, Chicago is gonna have a great team in a few years with all the young kids they’ve got. Anyway, so I slept like a rock at the proper time for two nights in a row. Consequently, I got up this morning at 6am. I refused to get out of bed at that hour so I merely rested for an hour before giving up to go try and be productive (aka: playing with the new tablet). Now that my knee is rested and good to go I’m supposed to run 14-16k today. Seeing as I took my dogs out a 8am in the pouring rain for just a few minutes and I came back sniffling and sneezing and drenched to the bone, I’m not sure if that’s going to happen. Kyra is supposed to come over after lunch so we can attempt to bake some gingerbread but that gives me many hours to kill beforehand.
Let’s see. I can run and get sick or read my next semester textbooks or wake up my brother and play Wii games or who knows what else. Actually, the first thing I should do is get my iriver ready to run just in case I find a lull in this storm so I can at least get a quick 5k in. This is important since my first actual race is a 5k on December 31st.

But just not running. I did quite the number on my knee today and now I’ve been told to stay off it and rest for a few days. Bummer.
On the other hand, more gaming :)
