I’ve not solved the internet situation yet, but I’m back at the house I’m leaving this weekend to pack up the furniture and find a way to cram a townhouse worth of stuff into a single room. Should be fun, right? But I’ve still got internet here so I had best take the opportunity to blog :)
I’m going to miss this place. I never ever used it to its full potential: I had all this space and a balcony and a full kitchen and only sorta cooked and never had a soul over. Granted, it’s hours away from my closest friends (and most don’t own cars), there’s no real transit solution out here, and I’ve never thrown a party in my life so I’d not know how to properly entertain anyway ;)
It’ll be nice to be back in Etobicoke again and I hope to take better advantage of having close friends and 24 hours grocery stores and be in walking/biking/blading distance of stuff so I don’t have to drive around and pay for parking all over the place. As much as Torontonians love to dump on the TTC, it’s very handy if it goes where you want to be.
The lack of internet has not been a large issue this week since I’m working insane hours at a temp contract job to a) help cover how record-setting horrible last year was for me financially b) it’s a cool technical thing that I’ve always meant to learn more about (RFID-related) c) I get to work with people I know here in Canada and a cool group from the US d) did I mention that I need the money? Not that I want to do endless crunch for the rest of the spring, of course, but crunch does go better when you believe in the project and enjoy the company of your co-workers. Since I’ve been working non-stop, I’m totally lost regarding what’s going on in the rest of the world, gaming or otherwise. Sheesh. I didn’t even realise that the NHL playoffs had started!! I’ve caught the ends of random games in between sleeping and working — did I mention we went basically around the clock this past week? — and there’s been some stellar hockey. To get this out of the way all in one go:
GO KINGS!! (Vancouver = meh, except that I like the Sedins)
GO BLUES!! (Nothing against the Sharks, but I really want to see the Blues go all the way)
GO COYOTES!! (I hate Glendale, but I still like the team. And there’s no one I really love on the Blackhawks that I can remember)
GO NASHVILLE!! (When I spent time in Windsor it was easier to like the Wings, but I definitely want Nashville to advance)
GO RANGERS!! (I’ll cheer for almost anyone playing against the Senators. Even Vancouver)
Go Boston, I guess (I’m tired of Caps fans whining that the world is conspiring against them. Please go away)
Can both the Devils and Panthers lose? I know they can’t, but I can hope. The winner will get stomped in round two anyway.
GO PENS!! (because, really, who roots for Philly?)
And, thankfully, Tante has arrived back in Canada! I’ve not seen her yet since she arrived late last night and the hospital wants her to rest a bit before taking visitors, so I hope to see her tomorrow or Monday at the latest. Fingers crossed that everything improves!!
Now, back to packing and I’ll get up as ass o’clock to watch the F1 race in China. Nico Rosberg put together an astounding lap to qualify on pole and, frankly, I’d love to see him win or at least get on the podium (and, yes, Schumacher is up at the top, too). Webber usually has a good race in China and, if he can avoid going backwards at the start, should be able to do well. Vettel in 11th is surprising, but he’s always a threat. Kobayahsi, woo!! Thrilled to see him starting near the front and I hope that he can make some magic happen. Can’t forget JB and Hamilton, of course. Should be really great, regardless of weather ^_^

Go Leafs! Oh, wait… maybe next year. (gdr)
Glad your Aunt is doing better. Being sick is no fun.
Being closer to you friends at your new place should make up for the downsizing, and should help you deal with the price of gas.
