I won't quote every line he's ever spoken (I think the internet takes care of that for everyone), but I loved his work. At least it's nice that people are finally noticing the work of the original Police Squad series (again, thanks to the internet). I've got the DVD; good times. Even my brother, who is not a movie fan, likes his stuff. Canadian movies are even worse than regular movies to him, but he really liked Men With Brooms. Yes, we are curling fans :)
This weekend, damn any other commitments, I am sitting down with my Driving Force GT and going to town on Gran Turismo 5. It might not be awesome, but I know there’ll be enough ‘pretty damn good’ to keep me going… despite the frequent bouts of rage I’m likely to experience with the menu, load times, ridiculous AI, and restricted progress path. And sitting through b-spec. I like b-spec. I want to do b-spec. I don’t want to be forced to when I just want to drive myself.

There are always naysayers. WHile GT5 has some serious shortcomings, I still think its the best actual racing game out there, AI be damned. I’ve never felt more immersed and in control of a “race car” before the Gt5 + DFGT combo. Its at least an order of magnitude more *realistic* than prologue.
Load times do suck bad….
Lack of Machine Test is very disappointing, and the tuning shop is a little cheesy.
When I picked up GT5 on Friday I wasn’t sure if I was going to enjoy the initial grind. Sometimes it’s easy to get frustrated with the start when all you can afford is an underpowered car, but I started with a used Honda Civic hatchback and it was easy to win my first 5 races. After that it was just a matter of upgrading to the next best thing and I’m having an amazing time playing this game!
It’s been years since I’ve raced around on some of these courses, especially monsters like the Nürburgring, and I absolutely love the challenge of staying on the track when you’re going 200+ km/hr. Even the Nascar and rally events are fun because the slightest little mistake can cost you the entire race. I guess I have a strange idea of fun!
If you have a tough time getting started just let me know and I’ll send you a gift to help you out. Some people might disagree with the idea but I think it’s pretty cool that you can send gifts to friends.
