I received DQIX as an early birthday present and, LO AND BEHOLD, look what else I found in my travels ^_^

And to think it only took four years to get a hold of a copy of Powered Up! Sheesh. It’s not a Canadian copy but I really don’t care about that. It’s fun to see a box with no French on it once in a while. It’s amazing how much more space that leaves there to actually tell people about the game instead of just the standard “Here are 3 PR quotes in English and French with two random screenshots. Hope that was all you wanted.” Ok, you got me. Every box in the world does that :)

I hope you are going to do a review of Dragon Quest 9. I got mine right as it came out in July. I’m at level 25 right now. This game is most awesome and I can see why the game was a big hit in Japan last year. I have 3 companions, Bethrin (female warrior), Whenffil (male mage), Mauhtew (female martial artist) and of course me, Karserif (male minstrel). The camera angle is super nice for a non-PC game. And the graphics is very good, with only a very slight amount of excessive pixelation and everything is so colorful. The story is what one me over and there a few scenes where I got a bit teary eyed. The only thing I’m annoyed about is the fact that I have the fat DS and as a result it supports WEP only. What this means is that I can’t use the DQVC shopping service (>_>). The other thing is that dialog can get a bit annoying with constant repetition and not allowing skipping of dialog already listened too. I love DQ9 a whole bunch! Do a review, your gonna love this game, I just know it.
I just watched the “Iwata Asks” videos on the Nintendo Channel for this game (after figuring out you can skip past the part on the 1st vid where it *always* freezes) and while they mentioned features such as shopping, the treasure maps and tag system, they didn’t say anything about which version of the DS is best suited to the game. Does that only work over WPA/WPA2 or is the problem that you would have to set up a WiFi access point to use WEP? I have a DS Lite, so I would be in the same leaky boat that is WEP.
Jenn describing the lack of French on the PSP case reminded me of how Wii cases from Nintendo in the USA generally now feature Spanish. My Metroid Prime 3: Corruption case has its description in English, French and Spanish, actually. Yet, Metroid Prime Trilogy’s slip cover only has an English description.
DS original and lite are WEP only. The DSi is WPA and WPA2. The game will work splendidly on any DS.
