Moving my PC gives me a heart attack

by Jenn on Friday, May 7, 2010

Well, I hope it doesn’t. I just don’t like doing it. I’ve been away the past few days since I found a new place to live — It has air conditioning! And I don’t have to pay for parking! But it is farther from downtown… but a major highway is no longer my backyard! — and I’ve been bringing my stuff over one tiny carload at a time. One day I will pay for movers, honest. Or at least a van. Another perk of this new place? NO MORE ELEVATORS. I strongly dislike elevators. I take the stairs whenever possible. I’ve been sucking it up and put boxes in the elevator since I’m not quite that desperate to make this as much of a workout as possible. I’ve also been spending some mornings this week doing some landscaping duties. Soooo close to being able to spring for a whole new 360 to replace my chugging and grinding 20GB HD unit. Woo.

I do tweet much more than I ever expected, so there’s that for my whining updates. I’ve got some more room to shoot video in the new place and I really want to talk about Puzzle Quest, the DSi XL (though those segments will be on Hak5), Pokemon, and my love/hate relationship with Brain Age. I hate you, Brain Age, and your bizarre hatred of lefties. I love you, Brain Age, for one game in particular. With my lack of consoles it’s been all about the DS lately. I’m at the Elite Four in Soul Silver now and seriously underlevelled. Might try to trade some Silver Exclusive pokemon for someone useful. There’s really no good grind spot before these guys and it’s very annoying and brings momentum to a screeching halt.

Now I need to start packing up my PC and monitors and UPS and speaker system and, frankly, I don’t wanna. It really looks like it’s going to rain so I need to hustle and get this done right away. Oh, and new place doesn’t have internet yet except for some borrowed wifi. Hopefully this will be rectified by mid next week. I scouted out some new furniture at Ikea last night and managed to not spend $500+ I don’t have on an amazingly gorgeous kitchen island. Trust me, the pictures do not nearly do it justice. ME WANT. It’d be my cooking counter (I will still lack a stove so I’ll keep on with my electric grill) and kitchen table and everything else I need! And will hopefully last me the rest of my life since I’ll baby it like crazy. It would literally be the nicest thing I own next to my PC. ME REALLY WANT. I have to go back for some non-fugly lighting to replace the awful ceiling lights in the new place and it’s a little low on natural light for my liking. As you all know, I’m pretty far away from a typical girly-girl but, damn if I don’t like dreaming of my perfect living space one day. Ikea tantalizes me with their semi-affordable close-enough-to-my-dreams furniture!

Ok, gotta pack.

Your left handed too? I have some good books my parents bought me as a kid that explained how we were superior to right handers ^_~ You have to feel sorry for right handers, there such poor souls to have never experienced a left handed life. I think thats why righties always make their products right handed :D

LEFT HANDED, NO REGRETS! :P

O.K., seriously what is with the retail pricing structure,
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00116996
http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi?Amount=379.00&From=USD&To=CAD

and availability of goods?

http://www.amazon.ca/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Kitchen+island&x=14&y=17

Even with a higher minimum wage this does not seem proportional at all.

Where does this money go and who is benefiting from it?
This isn’t meant as a rant I am honestly confused.

Good luck on the move and by the by “ellelators” are fun.

Sorry, The Eggplant! There were a lot of links and I didn’t see it in the spam folder. Fixed :)

Yes, Canadians always get boned with cross-border pricing whether or not we are close to par.
