Update my blog? PSH. Too busy headshotting Bandits!

I made good on my promise to pick up Borderlands and thus evaded getting my head kicked in by old friends that wanted to quest with me. Of course, I’ve only been able to quest with ONE of them so far since they’ve been busy but I don’t regret grabbing the game. Too bad I didn’t pick it up at launch since I hear, now, that it was half price. Bummer.

protip: to run you only have to click (L) once and then just hold the direction you are going. About 5 hours in my left thumb was killing me from pressing and holding constantly. I was later corrected by a loading screen. At least the imprint has finally faded!

It’s a testament to the game that I am still playing. Have you ever heard me talk about a First Person Shooter? Ha, no. I can do it on a PC since I have a mouse but I played Halo 3 for about ten minutes before I realized I really didn’t have the skill for this and didn’t feel like learning when I could be playing Rock Band instead. I stand by that choice. Borderlands is not a game I would have picked up on my own and I would have been missing out. The Diablo-style loot system and co-op were features I was very interested in but the whole ‘shooting’ aspect meant that it would go ignored this holiday season. Much like my third-person shooter skills went from zero-to-win thanks to my dedication to all things Ghostbuster, Borderlands has taken my FPS aptitude from negative-to-mostly-competent. No longer do I rely on spray-n-pray!! Now I run out of ammo only when taking on Skagzilla for the first time and attempting to handle Mad Mel without a car. Don’t do that last one. Seriously.

I’m playing a Siren (the girl, of course) and I’m in the mid-twenties somewhere, just at New Haven now. I’m a completist so I made sure to do every single quest in Fyrestone and Dahl, just cause. I have an awesomely high powered and very very fast recharge shield thanks to this so I can be down to 2, phase, and come back with a full bar again, all while doing shock damage to everyone else. Good times. While I’d love to jump back in tonight it’s time to go to dinner with a dear friend back in Canada for a few days. Anyone else and I’d blow them off to make more people explode or go back to melting faces. I do love these elemental weapons. This is probably obvious from my achievement list ;)

I’m honestly and truly sorry that I haven’t played with any of you guys on Live yet. I get the invites right when I’m about to play with someone else who isn’t super thrilled about playing with, to them, random people. When I get a bit farther and feel less embarrassed about my skills I will totally jump in with you guys, whether it’s to help you boost a new character, go for achievements, or just random questing. I’ll make a post saying when I’m available and see what kind of parties we can make! So far I’ve only played with a Hunter and another Siren so I totally want to see the other two classes in action!
