Mario Moment

I finally cracked out New Super Mario Bros. Wii this evening. I had to have something to cheer me up after the Leafs lost against the Isles and the Sens beat the Caps. I strongly dislike the Sens. Gah. Since I was already at my brother’s it seemed appropriate that we jump in together. This led to the greatest Mario moment I’ve had in years. I don’t remember what level in World 1 we were in (just before the midboss? It was really early on) but he had the great idea to mute the music and play this instead.

We were already partway through the level before it started and it was perfect. We were running through as fast as we could and lucked into hitting powerups at the right time, which one can audibly hear through the wiimote rather than the television, and hitting the flag right at the end. Perfect. When we hit a vine we had to play this, too.

It’s been a good night. Tomorrow: Borderlands!
