An open letter:
Dear Batman (and Robin, et al.),
I’m a big fan but we have some issues that need to be discussed. You’re supposed to be the world’s greatest detective with a plan for every possible contingency. I think you need to go over some of the basics with Robin. Specifically, if you could instruct him not to repeatedly drive into mines you are towing I think that would make everyone happier. I realize you have the funds to keep restoring these destroyed vehicles but many man hours could be saved by avoiding the mines and, thus, this whole situation. I’m sure even your patience was growing short as you had to continually had to turn around and pull another one only to have to repeat the process again and again. I will confess, however, that the whole thing was pretty funny from my vantage point.
Now if you could pass along a message to the villains for me, I’d be most grateful. I am thrilled that their powers are so varied that it feels less repetitive than the hero campaign — not to mention some characters having faster-than-Batarang distance attacks, a wonderful time-saving device. I know you don’t use guns unless the whole freakin’ universe depends on it, so that’s cool — but their cutscene director needs to be pointed in the right direction. Any direction, really. I started skipping cutscenes due to their mundane content. I do not feel that I am missing much. Perhaps I will give them another shot when I go back for all the minikits that I have been skipping so I can get them all in one pass in free play.
Free play is great. I turn on a bunch of cheats just to mess around and the large character selection is a blast. I’m sure once I finish the final two villain campaigns I will lighten up about the whole thing and have fun roving the stages with my wide range of powers. I haven’t looked up a walkthrough or anything but I sincerely hope there will be a mission with Nightwing and Batgirl. I am not holding my breath. He’s my go-to guy in Lego Batman since he is made of awesome. Obviously the character animators felt the same way since his moves look fantastic. It is cool to see the Barbara Gordon Batgirl running around, too. Ok, back to the game!

ps: Moar Nightwing. plzkthanx.
Oh, Batman Day. I had such high hopes! I tend to work six days a week and I needed to pick a day off and Friday sounded perfect. Sleeping in was wonderful but then I had to drive some relatives around and that took much longer than I expected. I’m not actually complaining about that though! I like helping out and I did promise. I just nearly forgot. Oops. When I got back to the game I pumped up some Apolcalypica to make things feel more bad-ass and when things were finally moving along I had to run off and take care of some other family stuff. I also missed a birthday party. On the plus side, I did get some late night laundry done so I have something nice to wear for another friend’s birthday party tonight.
I know it sounds like my fun is broken with all the whining but one of the interesting side effects of Lego Batman has been to make me really really want to pick up Arkham Asylum. I think the serious tone will be a blessing and I get endless 360 messages ordering me to stop this Lego nonsense and pick it up already.
I also get lots of mesages saying “na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na………..BATMAN!” They make me laugh every time :)
FREE GAME ALERT: www.playlikeapirate.com
“Celebrating Talk Like a Pirate Day! Today Only! Available through midnight Sept. 19 (PST) only” you can pick up the first chapter in Tales of Monkey Island: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal for free. Yes, really. This does not appear to be on Steam but direct from Telltale. I am entirely cool with this. Yarr. Do it now so you don’t forget! I will am also tempted to pick up the Special Edition Monkey Island from Steam even though I want the 360 version, too. Personally, I’ll probably be happy to play it twice. Talk me out of or into it, people!

Hmm. Tough call. S.E. Monkey Island is $4.99 U.S. this weekend on Steam, but if you’re into achievements 360′s the only place. I will never understand how people play these games without a mouse. PC first in my bubble.
Got Arkham Asylum (PS3) now and absolute no time to play it :( and got some incoming games like ODST this week, so mucht to play and write and so less time…
