Back off, man. I’m a scientist.

I totally feel like a kid again. I ended up playing Ghostbusters (360) until 5:10 in the morning. Even when I looked up at quarter to three and noticed the hour for the first time since 11pm that didn’t stop me from continuing despite knowing I’d have to get up early-ish the next morning. In fact, I jumped into the multiplayer fray and had even more fun exploring the different modes. In short, I love this game. I may never win a MP match but I can live with second place. I also love how they are all (ok, except Slime Dunk) co-operative modes and it is always in your best interest to help your fellow ‘busters. It is a wicked feeling when you come to the rescue because all your mates are down so you dodge all the ghosts and flying skulls and flaming coals to do an epic revive-run.

The game looks amazing on the 360. I picked that version first, knowing I was going for the Wii one later, since most of my friends are on Live. Turns out I was lucky on that count since the PS3 version looks comparatively funky in a bad way. Full credit to Joystiq for the great comparison shot:

yikes.

It’s so hard not to have a smile on my face the whole time while playing Ghostbusters. It is extremely satisfying to trap a ghost on your own. I know some people are less than thrilled with the reload times when you die but I can’t say it has bothered me yet. Mainly because I’m halfway through the game on Experienced difficulty and I’ve only seen it twice. Once I was severely horsing around with the slime tether. My bad.

I’ve been trying to take notes while I play FOR NO PARTICULAR REASON *cough* (so give me at least a week before you ask about OA, pretty please). I’d like to point out that there are an awful lot of Doritos in New York but you really stop noticing outside a few levels. The achievement names are all nods to the movie fans — I’d love to hear impressions from someone who hasn’t seen the movies to get a slightly more unbiased perspective. I am GB fangirl #1 so I’ve wanted to love this game since the second I heard about it. I knew it would at least be less annoying than the original NES games — and having the Ghostbusters talk to me just fills my heart with glee.

now he has a digital twin A lot of people are disappointed in the lack of character customization and oddly angry that Ryan French, associate producer, was used as a model for the mute rookie character you are forced to play as in the career mode. I would have at least liked the option for a female rookie but I have hopes for the sequel. I’m also in the camp that is glad that he never talks. I want to play as myself with the Ghostbusters, not another generic wisecracking character to bore me to tears. The fact that he stays quiet suits me fine since I talk to myself to fill in the silence anyway ;)

I’d like to close by apologizing to followers of my twitter feed since I’ve been going on about how much I love playing this game for a while now.

Since my 360 is RROD at the moment I had to get the PS3 version. Although it didn’t take away from the ton of fun I had, I wish I could have seen it in better detail. When I get my 360 back, I will be buying it again so I can play with friends. Playing with people on PSN kinda sucked cause there was no communication and people were being ass hats.

If I had the 360 version, I would still be playing it now after beating it doing some co-op.

I loved the game too, need to find more time to do some multiplayer. I totally agree about the character customization. Hopefully we can do that in a sequel.
