Can you believe that I missed Game 7 of the freakin’ Stanley Cup final for a play? It was actually worth it. Granted, my family also had the sense to PVR the CBC feed for me which I went over to watch later that evening. Woo. I actually didn’t think that the Pens were going to pull it off but I’m thrilled that Marc-Andre Fleury had the opportunity of a lifetime to redeem himself and came through. Also, his post-game interview was easily the best ever. Potentially NSFW ^_^
I was off seeing Catalyst Theatre’s Nevermore: The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe and it was completely awesome. I was invited by a friend — who says no to free tickets? — and wasn’t sure if I’d like it all but my overwhelming love for musicals made me want to give it a shot. Did I mention awesome? I wish they had a soundtrack. We topped off the evening with chocolate covered waffles with strawberries, parking off Yonge only cost me $5, and I got many txts after I turned my phone back on telling me about the Pens victory so it was an enjoyable night all around! I had forgotten how cool and huge the Winter Garden theatre was and it was lovely to visit again. How cool would it be to perform there someday?
My father and I have been going to the movies together ever since I can remember and the last little while we’ve been able to take the time and see a whole bunch and a new tv show too.
The Hangover — Note: evil browser resizing site. Now from the trailer I actually thought this was gonna suck hard. I couldn’t have been more wrong and I think it’s the funniest movie I’ve seen all year. There are probably lines I missed because I was laughing too hard so I might even see it again later if I can bring more people with me.
Up — Pixar rules. Do I really need to say more? There were a ton of kids and babies in the theatre and I kinda love seeing movies like that. They were super quiet during the emotional scenes and seemed to have a ton of fun otherwise. The musical score was amazing. And, of course, there were parts when I cried. Animated movies always get me like that.
The Listener — man I really really wanted this to be awesome. Instead it was hilarious and not intentionally so. I’ve only seen the first episode so far since I forgot to record the rest. I feel even worse saying this since I <3 Colm Feore and Toby Logan (protagonist) friended me on twitter. Some of the reviews are actually more fun than the show. You can check them out at the supremely fantastic TV, Eh?.
