So I was at a party last night. Really, I swear. It doesn’t happen often but I couldn’t pass up this invite and had an amazing time. Stuff literally ‘sploded. Thankfully there were no injuries which is why I can joke about this.
We’re all in a basement jamming with Rock Band, some of us better than others — this is the first time I met people who couldn’t carry a tune with a bucket… but alcohol was probably a factor there. I refuse to believe that people can be that bad without help! — and two of us hear these two very loud bangs. No one else does. We look around at each other since no one else seems to care and then one of the people upstairs pops in to tell us to keep it down. The three of us go back upstairs and can see this odd glow in the sky close by and then the flames themselves. Here’s a good shot of what’s left this morning :(
This isn’t to say it stopped the party at all. Everyone had a wicked time and only the three of us seemed to be aware of or cared about the fire. The sirens were plentiful and hit the scene amazingly fast. Without tv, internet, or even phone service to the house we had our cell phones and radio to check for updates but nothing was said about whether people had to leave the area or not, which is a fine testament to the emergency crews that contained and extinguished the fire. Hopefully the fire marshal will figure out what caused this ‘suspicious’ fire quickly and arrest the people behind it. I’m thrilled that none of the responding crews or nearby residents were hurt!
Also, Mats Sundin scored the winner against Toronto in the shootout with Vancouver last night. I loved every minute of it ^_^
