It’s Hockey Day in Canada today and I know three of the five main locations they will be broadcasting from this year. Toronto, of course. One day I’d love to see them do it from Etobicoke, which was where I learned to skate and play, but I know that’s extremely unlikely. I’d actually go to events in Etobicoke just to support my hometown. Anyway, I used to live in Sackville, New Brunswick and that’s a few hours away from Campbelton. I didn’t have a car when I lived there so I didn’t get around too much but I played hockey with a few people from Campbelton and I hope they are excited about this and get some camera time so I can see them again. And, of course, Windsor! woo :)
Ottawa plays Montreal at 3pm and, as always, I want Ottawa to lose by 20. It hasn’t happened yet but that will never stop me from hoping. Vancouver and Toronto go at it at 7pm and you’d think I’d be rooting for Toronto, right? I’m literally sitting here in my Leafs t-shirt, practice jersey, shorts, and Leafs blanket that Cookie gave me for Christmas but I don’t know. I was definitely a Mats Sundin supporter and I’d hate to see him booed tonight. I also want the Leafs in dead last so we can get a better shot in the draft pick lottery.I’m tired of these aborted playoff runs and making it for the first time in years to only exit in the first round is just sad. For Calgary and Edmonton at 10pm I gotta go with Calgary. That was a fun OT win against the Wild the other night and I’d love to see another fun game to cap off the day.
Anyone else watching? I might check out the streaming broadcasts on the site, too, since I’ve never heard hockey called in Cantonese, Italian, or Punjabi :)

(Yes, I am a Sens fan!)
Most of the crowd didn’t boo Sundin when he first came out, and gave him an ovation at the end of the game, which was pretty classy.
Hehe. I’m not even sure exactly when or where my Sens hate started but I’m reasonably sure that it had something to do with Alfredsson. I actually used to like some of the Senator goalies from back in the day like Damian Rhodes (granted he was a Leaf first!) and that goal he ‘scored’ for you guys was epic. The fact that it was technically against Brodeur and the Devils added extra points for hilarity :)
The crowd did a great job. My brother, a hardcore Sundin supporter since day one, had tickets to the game and thought the tribute and standing ovation during the first period were well done, too.
