Online/Multiplayer Achievements Suck

Seriously. I loathe them greatly. Also, the odds that I will get 100% in Little Big Planet are infinitesimal because, let’s face some facts here, some of my friends are morons. Today I played online briefly with a Toronto friend that isn’t completely* obsessed with slapping the crap out of my adorable sackperson every second of the day but there were these weird loading/lagging moments that made timing jumps rather frustrating. Also, you people that said you friended me on PSN are pulling my leg! I haven’t seen any new requests that aren’t from people I don’t already know locally and want to strangle. You can already guess why I am not joining the rush to get Left 4 Dead… as appealing as digitally blowing certain people away with a fake shotgun may be!

*just partially. I can live with partially.

The 100% achievement should come with some sort of real monumental prize, like, they mail you a bobblehead or give you a $10 rebate or something. Getting a 100% achievement in most of these games that offer it is nigh impossible unless you’ve got more free time than an autoworker in the jobs bank.

The real problem is the lack of a headset. Would make it easier. And I’m sorry for the slapping, but I only did it when idle for, like, the two minutes it takes to type “hi” in the PS3 softkey.

I did play a decent four player game with a couple of people last night with my sister — got some 4-player co-op items — but, yes, it’s easier in person in the same room.

hehe. I was just giving you a hard time, n0wak! ;)

I have headsets, I just need to find one that works with my PS3 before I go online with LBP again. I’m sure if I bribed people around here with pizza and/or beer (beer to be paid AFTER goals are accomplished) I might be able to get more stuff. I’m not sure it’s worth it though! All that headache for some gaming doo-dads so I can get a digital trophy (and make more visually interesting levels so I can MORE digital trophies and <3 from the community). Might not be the bestest idea ever.

I feel your pain with this, after having my Xbox offline for over 6 months because of a expired debit card in the account, that I could not get removed. (But that’s a story I am not going to get into because it could fill a serious of books with more volumes than there is Final Fantasy games.)

To keep it short when I finally got back online my profile needed to be downloaded from the Xbox servers and all my achievements form the last 6 months got wiped.

To add on top of it, a lot of games seem to use your achievements to check if you have done something in game, so in halo for instance, most of my skulls are gone and I need to go back and get them again.

Other games have remembered what I have done, but the achievements have still been wiped, so I have done the task to get the achievement but I don’t have the achievement I can’t do the task again to get it.

The only reason I haven’t played LBP yet is that the monitor that I had the PS3 hooked up to is being repaired now. The only other monitor I have will not work with the PS3 through DVI. Hopefully I get my monitor back soon. If not, I’m sure there are plenty of other games we can play together. I wish I had a HDTV right about now….
