Canadian Olympic Track and Field Trials

by Jenn on Sunday, July 6, 2008

It was awesome having Canadian Olympic Track and Field Trials here in Windsor at the uni. Lots of people came out and the athletes were amazing and our facilities looked great. Ok, except for the ones still under construction, but at least our new field looks way better than I expected it to. We still have buildings that look like they will fall over and/or sink into the ground but the football players are less likely to get injured on the new turf ;)

While the website for the event is a near-abomination and I hope no one from our school is responsible for it the event itself was well run and everyone seemed to be smiling all the time. I even ran into an old coach from high school and I’m still not sure whether it was a bigger shock to me or him. I finally got to see all the cool events that are so rarely broadcast up here (or broadcast at really crazy hours): pole vault, javelin, discus, shot put, and steeplechase! I missed the women’s final, which is too bad, but the guy’s final was pretty awesome. The winner, pictured below, was gonna lap people if the race was any longer. Sorry about the ridiculous grain. I was on the other side of the stadium and my teeny-tiny camera’s digital zoom is pretty ‘meh’. Live and learn.

steeplechase!

It’s going to be so quiet around here this week with all the athletes and coaches and spectators moving on!

Hi there, I’m currently testing out this Fontella theme as well and I was curious, how do you add the Twitter and images beside your post?(please reply on my blog)

Thank you!

He he, that one guy looks like he died from the heat and the jumping guy looks like he is about to land in a big puddle of water.

Nate, I was jealous of dead guy’s spot since the new turf looked so comfortable and I was way farther away from all the action. The other guy IS going to land in a pool of water since that’s half the fun of steeplechase ;)

The Fontella theme is still in my inventory and I can activate it if you want to take a look. The main problem is with the 404 page which looks a lil’ weird, there’s a huge white space below the footer. Doesn’t happen on other post/pages though.

The new theme I’m using is widget ready, so it’s easier to customize. I’m new to CSS, so maybe you can offer some tips and tricks. :)

Thank you.
