ustream

“ustream, istream, we all–” Yeah, ok. It’s probably been done to death already.

As the poor people on my twitter feed already know, I was playing with ustream the other day. It appeared terribly and ridiculously fuzzy to me and audio was just a huge mess so I didn’t transit any sound at all. I’ve been playing around in my spare time since then and I definitely fixed the fuzzy problem! Of course, switching from a 10-year-old free webcam to a Canon XL2 will do that for you! I also played around and can broadcast my Wii (a little fuzzy but you can totally tell what’s going on). Sound is still elusive, sadly.

I’ll do another test later* with a live stream + XL2 + shotgun mic vs. wireless lav and see. I’m hoping the shotgun will be more than passable since I prefer not carrying a pack around. I always end up sitting on it. For serious. You’d think I’d catch on, but no. That implies learning from past mistakes ;)

*much later. This is grad week at school and I have a project and a lab exam and people staying with me for the weekend so I’m going to be even more offline than usual! You probably didn’t know that was possible.
