great success

I love when a plan comes together. My surgery was at 8:45 this morning and even though I had to be conscious for it I knew I didn’t exactly want to be wide awake and aware of every detail. Thus, I didn’t leave Windsor until midnight and with the driving conditions I didn’t hit Toronto until 4:04 am. I stayed up even longer idly flipping through the channels and the next thing I knew my mom was kicking me out of bed to get ready. Turns out I didn’t have anything to worry about. The surgeon was amazing and while I’m not willing to say I had fun during the whole thing it was, far and away, the best surgery I’ve ever been conscious for. I was having issues with nerve damage in my mouth because I’m a moron. Back in high school I was playing lacrosse without a helmet and took a stick square to the jaw because, again, I’m a moron. I protected the ball rather than my face and paid for it. It used to only hurt off and on but the last few months it was almost constant and enough to make my eyes water. I left the doctor’s office feeling like a million bucks. I still feel great even though the local anathestic has long worn off. Smiling causes a bit of a twinge but I know that will fade with time :)

Once I got back to my parents’ place the long drive and lack of sleep this past week finally caught up with me and I blissfully slept for most of the day. Now I get to relax and hopefully sit and write for the weekend before I head back to Windsor to hang with my teacher friends, play video games, and do some serious studying for my C midterm on March 3rd. Also, my roommate (and 90% of the people on campus) will be away so I can be as loud as I darn well please! Woo, I’m gonna sing and drum all week long!
