back to rockin’

Finally. I finally nailed a CS midterm the way it should be done. The prof was surprised I finished in 40 minutes but I couldn’t stretch it out any longer. I might have missed some of the javascript array questions since I never really worked with them in the past but I know I nailed the rest :)

While impatiently waiting for my midterm to start I got in some Rock Band time to de-stress. I am completely thrilled that I never have to play ranked matches ever again now that I polished off the last of the online achievements. I played guitar for the score duels on January 31st but stuck with drums for tug of war today just because it’s more fun (and my roommate wasn’t around so I wouldn’t have to be self-conscious about the racket on my unmodded set). The problem with playing ranked matches through Live is the usual one: other people. In Rock Band, particularly, there’s no penalty for people quitting matches either at the start or, far more frequently, once they realize you are going to mop the floor with them. It took far longer than I want to admit to string 5 victories in a row in either mode. I made sure to give positive feedback/player reviews to people that actually finished a match, regardless of the outcome, and leave negative reports about the quitters. It helped for the most part since I rarely encountered the quitters again but it’s still a tad frustrating. I don’t know what Harmonix/EA/MTV Games plans do about it, if anything, but I’m not terribly invested anymore since I got the points I wanted. Now if they manage to implement an online band world tour, then we’re talking! I love my friends here but getting them to game with me is akin to pulling teeth.
