dammit, Jim. I’m a (computer) scientist not an english major!

Stupid Cyber Ethics. I, personally, do not particularly care about the ethical issues involved in people from both sides of the border purchasing drugs from online Canadian pharmacies. Really, I don’t. So writing a paper worth 20% of my final on this very topic has been an exercise in frustration the last few days. At least today I finally caught up on all the required readings and thus gave myself a suitable grounding in the ethical framework necessary to tackle such a (dry, very dry, holy crap so dry) task. At long last I am more than halfway through the essay’s first draft but progress is slow and painful. I am already grateful that I only have one more of these papers to do for this class. If this was a technical essay I probably would have finished this on the day it was assignment but, alas, I need this course for my Applied IT minor and so I continue to slog through it. I did take a philosophy course at UoT back in the day but I don’t recall enjoying that much more than this. Less, in fact. But it did give me a background that other students in the course may not have and might then help my paper reach the top of the bell curve. This semester I made a promise to myself that I would complete every assignment a few days early and with care as to not repeat the mistakes of the fall where I feel I let too many easy marks slip away. This doesn’t mean I always have to be happy about it though ;)

aside: Is it wrong that I have all my clean fresh-out-of-the-dryer towels wrapped around me right now? SO COMFY.

Jen,

I think you have an interesting essay topic.

I’m a pharmacist that works as a medical writer for a major US pharmaceutical company.

Don’t be too hard on the pharmaceutical companies. Most people have no idea how much time goes into getting a drug to market.

Good luck with your essay!
