It’s just plain nice to be here

Crazy how life is, eh? Today — ok, I guess technically Friday — I nearly get into a horrible car crash because the very day after the dealer does their car maintenance I discover that there’s a blown seal and OH LOOK no brake fluid means basically no brakes and zomg I’m gonna crash. I didn’t crash, miraculously, but I was gonna kill the dealer people in cold blood. When I complained to them about the brakes they treated me like I was crazy until they finally sent a tech out to look at the car with me. They wanted me to take him for a test drive but there was no way in hell I was getting back in the car until it was fixed. He looked under the hood and turned on the car and thankfully had the sense to check that, yes, you can floor the brake to no effect before moving it and then they started taking me seriously. I was livid. My parents really came through for me and came to get me from the dealer and talked with the manager about this oversight without me or them leaving a trail of bodies. Then they took me for a nice dinner with some great wine and even drove me downtown with some spending money so I could drink with my friends for a change and take a cab back home when I was ready. Seeing as my friends live at least a $50 cab ride away I thought that was quite awesome of them.

I promise you that I did not waste this opportunity to have some reckless fun. After the 1/3 bottle of wine with dinner I went to town with a half dozen or so super girly martinis and had a blast catching up on news and random goings-on with my dear friend Gordo. It’s been, gosh, a year or so(?) since I had a dedicated night of drinking. I tend to only go a few times a year at best so I thought I’d be rusty but I did remember why I don’t ever really drink: I have a pretty high tolerance and so I end up spending way too much money. I’d usually much rather drop that kind of cash on new games instead of a frivolous night on the town (as if games aren’t frivolous, I know already) but I think I needed this. I’m not ready to talk about the near accident just yet. Heck, I’m kinda impressed I can type coherently right now while writing this up and chatting on IRC and IM, but hopefully I’ll feel better about the whole thing tomorrow when I get my car back in one piece and head back to Windsor :)

Now what you should have done is driven the car at speed directly towards the unbelieving dealer people, after videotaping their unbelief for use in your murder trial of course ;-)
