I’m not even talking about Calculus either. Though it really does apply, too. Stupid exam on the 20th. *grumble*mumble* I really need to get cracking on the review. Instead I spent the weekend fighting with my computer. As I mentioned recently, I decided to wipe my PC to start fresh. While I thought I was particularly clever when I backed up my files and critical drivers I forgot that I was not the person who initially setup this tower (it was a surprise gift so I had no say on the guts of the machine) and was therefore unaware of a new circle of hell that is video editing pc configuration.
Premiere won’t start.
Apparently some windows processes piss it off so kill them and try again.
The XL2 won’t talk to my PC.
Whoops, firewire driver.
Everything starts but what the hell are those funky colours where my video capture preview should be?
At least I can hear the audio and watch the preview through the camera.
Now that I imported a test clip blind, why does the regular preview window look so fuzzy?
Maybe I should update my video card drivers.
Hallelujah! I can now see live capture video!!
But the preview is still ugly unless it’s at 100% zoom which isn’t really workable even with my dual monitors.
Also, Matrox = teh suck. Just thought I’d throw that in there. So I’ve gotten my PC mostly up to speed again. I’ve been putting it off because I was dreading annoying stuff like the above but now there are just two things left to fix. Well, three but I don’t need to do the third thing until the other two are fixed. I couldn’t even start working on my system until I got back from Toronto anyway because I had to retrieve all my program discs. That’ll teach me to move without them.
1.) Preview window goodness. It used to look so nice. I have no idea what happened or how to fix it yet but I will find a way.
2.) Get my RAID controller back online. 250-500 gigs is too much space to have wasting away. My RAID utility says everything is peachy keen but windows doesn’t see it at all.
3.) Move my backed up files back onto the RAID drives and then properly format the external USB backup to NTFS.

Hello, Jenn. This is your conscience. If you are reading this person’s comments, then you are not preparing yourself for your calculus exam on the 20th! Yes, it is stupid, but you have no choice but to pass the exam.
We now return back to your regularly scheduled program now in progress…
