It’s my birthday tomorrow. I have no classes but I have no idea what to do.
I spent the weekend in hardcore veg-mode. I rented a zillion movies and took break by going for lots of walks around town. I saw the entire third season of Scrubs and Connie & Carla and The Birdcage so far. I only got into Scrubs because of the musical episode with Stephanie D’Abruzzo but I think I will look to rent the rest of the series to get totally caught up before the last season this fall. But that’s not really what I want to do for my birthday either. In the past I… have no idea. Graeme was usually around to take me out or I went to The Second City but now I’m in Windsor and the one friend I made moved back to Toronto.
I bought myself a gift from Amazon.ca and it actually arrived a day early so at least I have some new books to read. I dunno. I might finally try that sushi place in “Downtown Windsor” (yes, it is funny for me to call what’s here a downtown since I came from Toronto) though it will be hard pressed to compete with the places I used to frequent back home. Anyway, I’m not as sad as this entry suggests. It’s a beautiful day outside. I’m making real progress with Music Theory and Calculus today made perfect sense. The prof assigned a ridiculous amount of homework today but with the long weekend coming up I might just hold off and do it along with Wednesday’s assignment(s) when I’m back in Toronto so my puppies can keep my company again.

music theory in uni for non-music majors? where does it start? grade 2 rudiments? what is this, twenty questions? sorry i could just look it up myself, but you know how that goes . . .
Course outline: get this book and read it. Seriously. And we have worksheets to fill out as well as practice for the exam. It’s supposed to bring you up to level 2/3.
Elementary Rudiments of Music is available in just about every music store in Windsor so I doubt it will be too hard to find in Toronto if you are interested. Aside from the in-class worksheets the book has tons of practice exercises with the proper space to do them as well.
Happy Birth Day
I dont know if this will help at all but
Here is the MIT open courseware

Danica Mckellar is coming out with a new book and on her web site she answers a few math questions.

Why do people persist on trying to solve problems I don’t want help with and be completely inattentive when I actually need help? ;)
I still plan on ignoring all homework until I’m in Toronto though. I’ll check out the links at that time but I learn in a very specific way that I haven’t had anyone else replicate yet. I end up better off reading the text and doing the examples a million different ways until I find one I like. It’s stupidly time consuming but then I develop my own method which is often faster and more organized for me than how the prof does it. I’m determined that one day I will find a better way to teach math and/or music.
Happy Birthday.
Have a great birthday Jenn.
How about one more link. I stayed up a little late watching some of these videos.

Heh. Almost sounds like a superhero name.
Wow. I was actually gonna start up a rather similar show.
Happy Birthday Jenn. Have fun. ^_^
Happy Belated Birthday! I know you were planning on staying at home but I really hope you got to go out and celebrate! All the best!
Personally, Jenn, I think you’re crazy. A Scrubs marathon is the perfect way to spend a birthday. BTW, wasn’t that episode “My Screw Up” sad? Really took me for a twist at the end… poor Coxie. Like you, I’m also trying to catch up to the last season, but am stuck watching the show through all of its syndications. Sucks that I have to watch it at odd hours, but I’m getting there.
Anyway, Happy Birthday, here’s too many more, and… well since your birthday is over I guess it’ll be pointless to say have fun… Jambalaya?
Happy B-day
Oishi? They are alright, there was a better sushi place around but I forgot where, it doesn’t matter though, its closed last I heard. There aren’t many places in Windsor that serve decent sushi. Though if you want to try great Chinese food, try Jade, which is also near “downtown”.
Yes, I do live in Windsor too.
